Physical problem-solving and the basic disciplines of physics - electrodynamics, thermodynamics and quantum mechanics

Physics is the study of material nature at all levels, from the smallest to the largest, i.e. from the elementary particles to the universe with its stars and galaxies. The experimental methods employed in physics are often precursors for society’s high-tech development. By combining theoretical physics with mathematical models, we can predict and understand events and relationships in the physical world.

The subject takes you through the basic disciplines of physics, including electrodynamics, thermodynamics and quantum mechanics. The courses in physical problem-solving develop the student’s qualifications in the approaches and intuition required by a physicist, and they provide an introduction to many different physics disciplines to enable you to structure and formalize a physics problem. Part of the studies entails placing the subject of physics into a larger social, historical and philosophical perspective.

All teaching and project writing is conducted in English.

Din hverdag på studiet

The teaching is conducted in small groups in close dialogue with the teacher. The courses often involve the formation of smaller groups for calculation exercises. You will work on projects with 1-3 other students, and the project group constitutes an important academic and social basis for you. There is generally a high level of activity at the department, and you will have good study-related facilities at your disposal, including easy access to equipment, computers with specialized software and technical support.

Fra bachelor til kandidat

The two subjects you choose for your bachelor can be continued on our master programmes. Your bachelor degree also provides access to other of our master programmes.
