Intro til uddannelsen

The International Bachelor in Natural Science offers you the opportunity to study natural science in an international environment. Foreign students make up 80% of the programme’s participants, so you will become part of an exciting study environment that will prepare you to work with a broad range of nationalities in international companies and organizations.
From the very first day, the project work will teach you to think and work based on research. Each term, you will formulate a specific science problem in collaboration with your team. At the end of the term, you must present a research-based solution that is based on scientific literature and preferably on your own experiments. Each of your projects will have a researcher assigned, who will act as your supervisor throughout the process.
During the first year, you will receive training in key scientific theories, methods and models. Through your project work and courses, you will learn the basic methods for how to examine nature using experiments, analyses and models. You will also select courses in biology, computer science, physics, geography, chemistry, mathematics, environment and statistics.
In the final two years, you will specialise in two bachelor subjects. You can choose from among a number of combinations, either with two natural science subjects, or with one subjects from natural science and one from the humanities or social science.
Daily life while studying
You will experience a unique learning environment, where teaching takes place in small groups and with a strong sense of social cohesion. At the end of each week, you can relax in the Natcaféen, which is run by the first-year students. This is our social meeting place, where we relax after a hard week’s work. We play card and dice games, table football and we chat with both old and new students. This is also where we hold graduation parties, table football tournaments, Halloween parties, Christmas parties and techno parties.
From bachelor to master
A bachelor's degree from Roskilde University will provide access to study a master's programme. Depending on which subject(s) you choose as a part of your bachelor's programme, your degree will provide access to one or more of Roskilde University's master's programmes.
Exchange
You will have the opportunity to spend a term at one of the universities with which RUC’s natural sciences area has a student exchange agreement, or you can organize such a stay at another university yourself.

To what extent can miRNAs play a role in the treatment of breast cancer?

How to approach the fact that some patients are unwilling to follow the doctor’s health recommendations necessary for an effective treatment in case of a chronic disease?

How does the thermal conductivity and heat capacity of the stack material influence the thermoacoustic effect?

How can we create a model, which could be applied in reality, to compare and evaluate ways of insulating in order to find a way of saving energy for a single family house using MatLab?

How could farmers be encouraged to make use of biological pest control methods of pest control on a large scale so as to eradicate the environmental impacts of pesticide use?
Subjects and possible combinations
“I really like the area between physics and chemistry. I chose RUC to do the two together.”
Calvin studies physics og chemistry on International Bachelor in Natural Sciences.
“I work in the intersection of my two subjects - eg. with nanoscience. I did a project with a leader in the field where we studied how to use nanotechnology to create better sources of hydrogen fuel for vehicles or power stations,” says Calvin.
