Intro til uddannelsen

To battle diseases like Covid-19, diabetes, cancer or antimicrobial resistance, we need to understand the molecular mechanisms at play. In the Master’s programme in Molecular Health Science, we build the foundation for treatments and vaccines by exploring the molecular structures of diseases.
This interdisciplinary programme is rooted in experimental molecular biological studies of disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and health. We will give you a thorough understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind human health, as well as the development of drugs and the treatment of diseases. Key subjects include pathophysiology, immunology, pharmacology, biotechnological techniques, cell biology and bioinformatics, all with a strong focus on experimental science.
We collaborate closely with the health sector and the biomedical industry to create the best study environment, enabling you to work with real life health and disease challenges aided by both university researchers and partners from the practice sector. You will receive clinic-related teaching by physicians on subjects like quality considerations, bioproduction, standards and deviation management. You can also complete an internship and write a project or thesis in collaboration with a company or a hospital. As all Master’s programmes at Roskilde University, we work extensively through problem-oriented projects. Regardless of your background, you will be challenged to broaden your perspective and learn new skills.
Din hverdag på studiet
At Molecular Health Science you will become part of the study- and research environment in Molecular and Medical Biology at Department of Science and Environment. In addition to the education, you will be invited to academic seminars, student run events as the Natcafé and boardgames nights. The teaching consists of 50 % lessons (lectures, seminars, experimental exercises etc.) and 50 % project work (Master thesis + internship or Master thesis), where you and your co-students work closed together with researchers on real problems in Molecular Health Science. With several experimental courses and the experimental Master thesis you will in periods of time spend many hours together with your co-students and the laboratory technicians and researchers.

Karriere
Our candidates go on to work with different aspects of health science and molecular biology in both the private and public sector. Tasks include product development, validation, quality control, regulation or marketing, and jobs can be found in healthcare and hospitals, in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry and in public health agencies on local, regional, and state level. The programme qualifies you to enter a PhD-program.
