Influenza

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on March 13, 2026, 110 pediatric influenza deaths have been reported in the United States during the 2025-2026 flu season. In the latest weekly influenza surveillance report, 11 additional child deaths linked to influenza have been reported. Most of the children were not fully vaccinated against influenza. 

H5N1

According to BEACON on March 15, 2026, Cambodia’s Ministry of Health has reported a second human case of H5N1 avian influenza in 2026. The case involves a 45-year-old woman from Banteay Meanchey province who was exposed to sick and dead backyard poultry before testing positive on March 14, 2026. The patient was hospitalized, placed in isolation, and treated with oseltamivir. Reports of sick and dead chickens and ducks in her village indicate possible ongoing H5N1 transmission in local poultry.

As of March 17, 2026, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not reported any cases of person-to-person transmission of H5N1 in the United States. The total remains at 71 confirmed human cases and two deaths.

 

MPOX

According to Fox News on March 16, 2026, New York City has reported its first case of mpox clade I, a strain associated with more severe disease. The patient had recently traveled internationally, and health officials said there is no known local transmission. City health authorities said the risk to the general public remains low, while continuing to recommend vaccination for people at higher risk of exposure. 

 

MEASLES

US.

According to CIDRAP on March 17, 2026, South Carolina’s measles outbreak has reached 997 cases, with only one new case reported in recent days. Of the total, 639 cases have been reported in children aged 5 to 17 years and 263 cases in children under 5 years.The majority of cases occurred in unvaccinated individuals. North Dakota has reported 26 cases so far in 2026, including three new cases and four hospitalizations. In North Dakota, 23 cases have been confirmed in Pembina County

As of March 13, 2026, the United States has reported 1362 measles cases so far in 2026, according to the Center for Disease Control. In 2026, the age group 5-19 accounts for 54% of the cases (773), and children under 5 years account for 22% of the cases (303). Of the cases reported in 2026, 92% were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status and 5% of the cases have been hospitalized (65). A total of 3,646 measles cases and three deaths have been reported to date. 

Canada.

As of March 16, 2026, Canada has reported 504 measles cases in 2026, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. In 2026, 56% of the cases occurred in children (233). Manitoba accounts for 63% of the cases (315), and Alberta accounts for 29% of the cases (145) reported so far in 2026. 89% of the cases reported in 2026 were unvaccinated (448), and 5% required hospitalization. A total of 5,929 measles cases and two deaths have been reported to date.
