Network Meeting with Guest Mari-Klara Stein

In August 2021 the Augmented Intelligence Research Network welcomed guest Mari-Klara Stein, PhD, to share her reflections on artificial intelligence and management.


For the August 2021 meeting of the Augmented Intelligence Research Network, the members were pleased to welcome Mari-Klara Stein, PhD, Associate professor at DIGI, CBS, to share some of her thoughts on artificial intelligence and management decisions. At the time of the meeting, Mari-Klara was working on the PLAI-project (Professional judgement, Legitimacy and Artificial Intelligence), in process of application to the Danish Research Council.

Mari-Klara’s research is focusing on how algorithms and AI affects management and work, with a particular interest in how digitalization (algorithms and AI) changes the way managers interact with staff. Further, the researcher holds an interest in how these interactions affect the employee trust in management and the meaning of work. The findings indicate that digitalized management may make employees feel more vulnerable, while digitalization of work may also help employees make sense of and communicate the meaning of work.
