What Big Tech Can Do For Democracy
Technological transformations are societal transformations, but who controls the so-called tech giants? And how might digital developments strengthen democratic societies?
On April 20, 2023 the Centre for Digital Citizenship, in collaboration with the ADD project, will organize a debate around these issues. The debate is the final event of the year in the 'Thursday Talks' series, hosted by the university's English and Danish-language media and communication programs.
The debate will feature Christine Sørensen (Google - Nordic Lead for Government Affairs and Public Policy) and Tobias Bornakke (Analyse & Tal - Partner; and Chair - Nordic Think Tank for Tech and Democracy) and will be moderated by Marcus Lantz (PhD and ADD project team postdoc).
Christine Sørensen is Nordic lead for government affairs and public policy at Google. She will present Google’s position on how tech can work for democracy. Tobias Bornakke is a partner in Analyse & Tal and holds a PhD in sociology. He heads the Nordic think tank on tech and democracy and will present the position of the think tank, including the issue of how big tech should be regulated.
The talk is being held in the Roskilde University Cinema, in building 41, from 13-14. All are welcome!
