Roskilde University, in collaboration with partners, will investigate how regional food systems can enhance resilience and self-sufficiency in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The project runs for three years and has received 15 million DKK in funding, including support from the EU.

Professor Henrik Hauggaard-Nielsen from Roskilde University and colleagues from the Swedish Agricultural University have jointly published research results that demonstrate that the agroecological practice of intercropping cereals and legumes can reduce the global need for nitrogen fertilizers by up to 26% and considerably reduce the amount of land used.

Professor Niels Heine Kristensen from Roskilde University is the project manager of a new research project studying food waste in public food procurement. The project has received a grant of DKK 4.1 million from the VELUX Foundation’s HUMpraxis programme.
