If you have previously passed any courses or exams at master’s level, you must apply for a credit transfer when you apply for admission to a master’s programme at Roskilde University. It is a Danish legal requirement for applicants to apply for a credit transfer from prior education at the same level when applying for an educational programme at a Danish university. Please note that this is only the case if your previous studies were not completed.
How to apply for mandatory credit transfer
You should apply for mandatory credit transfer as part of your application for admission to our master's programmes through the digital application system (DANS).
In order to apply for the credit transfer, you must upload the following documents to your online application:
- Transcript(s) for all passed activities at master’s level
- Official course description(s)
If your documents are not in Danish, English, Norwegian or Swedish, you must upload the original documents along with an official English or Danish translation.
If you have applied for admission to more than one master’s programme at Roskilde University, you must upload the application for credit transfer to each of the master’s programmes you are applying to.
Will I be able to get a credit transfer?
You will be granted credit transfer if the passed courses from your previous studies at master’s level are considered comparable to the content of the master’s programme that you have been admitted to at Roskilde University. The university makes an academic assessment of what is relevant and what courses can be transferred. It is not possible to out from a mandatory credit transfer.
If your previous studies at master’s level are considered equivalent to studies at Danish bachelor’s level, you will not be able to get credit transfer for these courses. This is relevant for applicants with qualifications from countries where studies at master’s level are considered equivalent to studies at Danish bachelor’s level.
