The summer holidays are now behind us and the autumn term is slowly beginning. In DataPublics that also meant the happy welcome to associate professor David Mathieu who is currently based in the department for communication at Roskilde University. He is joining the project to further strengthen the audience research competencies in the project, which has a distinct goal of overcoming the divide between journalism and audience studies. David has also specifically been interested in the datafication of audiences and has among other recently been the editor of a special issue in the journal MedieKultur named ‘The Datafication of Media (and) Audiences’ and part of the PhD course on the very same topic held at Roskilde University in June.

“We are delighted that David has agreed to join the project who brings along competences that will strengthen the work we have already begun,” says PI Jannie Møller Hartley.

David will predominately contribute to subproject four, which focuses on how audience practices and the formation of publics are changing in the datafied era. Here he will collaborate with Mette Bengtsson who has already initiated parts of the study.
