20 May the centre organised and co-hosted an event on Danish nuclear weapons policy in Copenhagen together with the Danish Foreign Policy Society. The immediate  occasion was the announcement by the Danish government during the recent elections that Denmark had accepted France’s invitation to closer strategic cooperation on nuclear deterrence. A panel composed of centre co-director Laust Schouenborg, as well as Rens van Munster (DIIS), Iben Bjørnsson (Swedish Defence University), and Christine Nissen (Tænketanken Europa), debated this decision as well as other developments in the nuclear weapons field, including the lapse of the NEW START Treaty in February, Chinese nuclear rearmament and the troubled state of the NPT regime.
