The AlterPublics group wrapped up ECREA 2022 in Aarhus by co-hosting a panel on alternative media and counterpublics with colleagues from Germany, Austria, and Norway.

At the panel Saturday morning, called "Alternative media and the mainstreaming and mobilization of digital counterpublics", Postdoc Jakob Bæk Kristensen and PI Eva Mayerhöffer presented new data on the fringe- and mainstreamness of alternative news sharing communities.

The panel also contained presentations on German digital counterpublics on Telegram, topics of alternative news media over time, a network analysis of cross-platform far-right communities, and a framework to understand how far-right media seek insider status.
