AlterPublics and AlterUse at ECREA 2024 in Ljubljana
AlterPublics and AlterUse are heading to ECREA 2024 in Ljubljana with a strong line-up of presentations spanning platform dynamics, anti-systemic mobilization, and alternative knowledge claims.
On Wednesday 25 September (11:00–11:15), Frederik Henriksen presents collaborative work on how the far-right turned anti-systemic during COVID-19 in the panel Media discourses and radicalization (CDE03, FU 5).
Later the same day (18:30–20:00), Jakob Bæk Kristensen and Eva Mayerhöffer present a paper on how content flows from fringe to mainstream platforms in the panel Radical political actors, extremist narratives, and disinformation (CDE03, FU 5).
Also on Wednesday (16:30–18:00), our colleague Azade Kakavand (Computational Communication Lab, Vienna) presents a collaborative project on matching far-right user identities across platforms in the panel Authoritarianism and polarisation (DCC08, FDV 23).
On Friday 27 September (09:00–10:30), Ernesto de Léon presents joint work with colleagues at the University of Bern on Networked exposure—what bridging aggregate and individual network data reveal about hyperpartisan, alternative, and conspiracy media (panel Conspiracy theories, beliefs, and media, POL21, FDV 6).
Finally, at 13:30, Salla Tuomola presents research on how counter-authorities and alternative voices understand reliable knowledge construction and distribution online in the panel Alternative news media II (JOS31, FDV 1)
