Leggionaire’s disease

According to the New York City Department of Health on July 22, 2026, a community cluster of Legionnaires’ disease is under investigation in the Upper East Side neighborhoods of Carnegie Hill and Yorkville. A total of 82 cases, including five deaths, have been reported. Testing identified Legionella bacteria in 34 cooling towers across 33 buildings, which have been cleaned and disinfected.

Ebola

According to the INRB-UMIE BDBV on July 20, 2026, Epidemic Dashboard, the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has reached 2,473 confirmed cases and 999 confirmed deaths. Health authorities are also investigating 322 suspected cases and 91 suspected deaths.

Measles

US

As of July 17, 2026, the United States has reported 2,206 measles cases so far in 2026, according to the Center for Disease Control. In 2026, the age group 5-19 accounts for 50% of the cases (1,130), and children under 5 years account for 21% of the cases (451). Of the cases reported in 2026, 93% were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status and 6% of the cases have been hospitalized (146). A total of 4,392 measles cases and three deaths have been reported to date.

According to the Delaware Division of Public Health on July 2026, the first measles case in more than 10 years has been confirmed in Kent County, Delaware. The case involves an unvaccinated adult male. Public health authorities are conducting contact tracing and advising residents to verify their measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination status.

Canada

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada on July 20, 2026, Canada has reported 1,102 measles cases (1,020 confirmed and 82 probable) in 2026 as of July 11. 60% of the cases occurred in children (663). Manitoba accounts for 61% of the cases (677), and Alberta accounts for 28% of the cases (311) reported so far in 2026. 86% of the cases reported in 2026 were unvaccinated (947), and 7% required hospitalization. A total of 6,527 measles cases and two deaths have been reported to date.

Influenza

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on July 17, 2026, 187 pediatric influenza deaths have been reported in the United States during the 2025-2026 flu season. In the latest weekly influenza surveillance report, two additional child deaths linked to influenza were reported.

H5N1

According to BNO News on July 11, 2026, Cambodian health authorities have reported a human H5N1 avian influenza case in a 9-month-old girl, marking the country’s fifth human H5N1 case this year. The child, from Phnom Penh, is receiving medical care. Health authorities are investigating the source of infection and monitoring contacts to prevent further transmission.

As of July 21, 2026, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not reported any cases of person-to-person transmission of H5N1 in the United States. The total remains at 71 confirmed human cases and two deaths.

Hantavirus

According to the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), there have been no updates since the last report on June 18, 2026, regarding the Andes virus outbreak on the cruise ship MV Hondius. At that time, almost all passengers and crew had ended their 42-day quarantine after testing negative and were no longer considered a transmission risk.

Mpox

From May July 15-21, 2026, there have been no significant updates on mpox outbreaks worldwide.
