On the 14. april Anders Hovmøller defended his PhD-thesis: "What is Populism: An Intervention in the Scientific Populism Debate – Inspired by Laclau and Mouffe," which constitutes a central part of the research project "In the Name of the People" and was supervised by the principal investigator Allan Dreyer Hansen (Flemming Juul Christiansen was the secondary supervisor). The assessment committee consisted of Hanne Marlene Dahl from the Institute of Social Science and Business, Roskilde University, professor Lasse Thomassen from Queen Mary University of London og lektor Susi Meret fra Institut for Politik og Samfund, Aalborg Universitet.
