Emerging outbreaks 

According to WHO on February 6, 2026, health authorities in Bangladesh have reported one confirmed case of Nipah virus infection in Rajshahi Division. The patient, a woman aged between 40 and 50 years, developed symptoms in late January and died shortly after being hospitalized, with a history of consuming raw date-palm sap which is a known exposure route for the virus. All 35 identified contacts are being monitored, and no additional cases have been detected so far. WHO assesses the overall public health risk at the national, regional, and global levels as low.

 

MEASLES

US.

According to CIDRAP on February 10, 2026, the South Carolina Department of Health has confirmed 13 new measles cases, bringing the state’s total to 933 confirmed infections. Most of the patients were unvaccinated (859 out of 875 patients with known details). This state's outbreak is the largest outbreak in the United States in more than three decades. Meanwhile, an outbreak at Ave Maria University in Florida has grown to at least 54 cases.

As of February 6, 2026, the United States has reported 733 measles cases, according to the Center for Disease Control. In 2026, the age group 5-19 accounts for 417 of the cases (57%), and children under 5 years account for 203 of the cases (28%). Of the cases reported in 2026, 95% were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status and 23 of the cases have been hospitalized (3%). A total of 3,009 measles cases and three deaths have been reported to date. 

Canada.

As of February 9, 2026, Canada has reported 135 measles cases in 2026, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. In 2026, 93 of the cases occurred in children (69%). Alberta accounts for 41 of the cases (30 %), and Manitoba accounts for 73 of the cases (54%) reported so far in 2026. 121 of the cases reported in 2026 were unvaccinated (90%), and five required hospitalization. A total of 5,560 measles cases and two deaths have been reported to date.

 

MPOX

From February 4-10, 2026, there have been no significant updates on Mpox outbreaks worldwide.

 

H5N1

U.S.

As of February 10, 2026, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports has not reported any cases of person-to-person transmission of H5N1 in the United States. The total remains at 71 confirmed human cases and two deaths.
