Cyclospora

A multistate Cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce has sickened 11,458 people across 20 U.S. states, According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on August 27. A total of 495 people have been hospitalized and two deaths have been reported in Michigan. 

 

Ebola

According  to the INRB-UMIE BDBV on August 30, 2026, Epidemic Dashboard, the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has reached 6,100 confirmed cases and 2,950 confirmed deaths. A total of 1,383 patients have recovered. According to the World Health Organization on August 28, The Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak has expanded to 60 health zones across six provinces and has a case fatality rate of 48.1% . 

 

Measles

US 

As of August 30, 2026, the United States has reported 2,903 measles cases so far in 2026, according to the Center for Disease Control. In 2026, the age group 5-19 accounts for 47% of the cases (1,351), and children under 5 years account for 19% of the cases (541). Of the cases reported in 2026, 94% were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status and 8% of the cases have been hospitalized (223). A total of 5,066 measles cases have been reported to date. The update from CDC does not include the two measles-associated deaths reported by the Pennsylvania, while CDC reviews additional information regarding the circumstances and causes of death 

Pennsylvania has reported 86 new measles cases this week, bringing the total to 460 cases and 83 hospitalizations with cases reported among unvaccinated individuals, according to CIDRAP on August 28. Utah, which has experienced the largest outbreak, reported no new cases for the third consecutive week, while Georgia confirmed four cases linked to a daycare in the Atlanta area.

Canada

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada on August 31, 2026, Canada has reported 1,118 measles cases (1,037 confirmed and 81 probable) in 2026 as of August 22. 61% of the cases occurred in children (675). Manitoba accounts for 61% of the cases (680), and Alberta accounts for 28% of the cases (311) reported so far in 2026. 86% of the cases reported in 2026 were unvaccinated (962), and 7% required hospitalization. A total of 6,543 measles cases and two deaths have been reported to date.

 

Influenza

H5N1

As of September 1, 2026, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has not reported any cases of person-to-person transmission of H5N1 in the United States. The total remains at 71 confirmed human cases and two deaths. 

 

Mpox

From August 26-September 1, 2026, there have been no significant updates on mpox outbreaks worldwide.
