First lecture in the 'Green Futures Seminar Series' by Lara Monticelli

In the first week of October 2023, we launched a thematic seminar series. Up until 2026, the seminar series will organize two to three public lectures each semester. The seminar series will present a range of speakers who in different ways engage the broad question, how can we organize and conceptualize alternative futures in an era of climate crisis?

The first lecture was given by Economic Sociologist Lara Monticelli from Copenhagen Business School (CBS), who presented her resent book 'The Future is Now. An Introduction to Prefigurative Politics'. The second speaker in the series was Sociologist Samina Luthfa, University of Dhaka who shared insights from the Environmental Justice Movement in Bangladesh. The two lectures nicely display the variety of knowledge the seminar series will introduce in the coming years, ranging from a conceptual approach to alternatives to a historically driven empirical analysis of country specific mobilizations.
