European Reform University Alliance (ERUA)
-
The main focus of the Alliance is education: more flexible study programs that can be studied across Europe to ensure better student mobility, innovative forms of teaching and learning to be exchanged, and initiatives in the areas of staff exchange, staff mobility, and best practice are to be intensified.
ERUA is supplemented by Re:ERUA which focuses on strengthening research collaboration between the alliance partners and allowing for excellence in research and innovation as part of the European Research Area.
We pursue excellence in research by promoting free thinking, a bottom-up approach, and open science. We cover most disciplinary fields with a particularly strong profile in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts. This enables us to develop original interdisciplinary approaches and new answers and solutions to contemporary problems and challenges.
Our educational programs and research projects are geared towards societal impact. To achieve this, we work in close collaboration with a wide range of actors. As a European University, we combine local engagement and global vision.
We are part of the European University Initiative
ERUA is part of the European Commission’s (EC) European Universities Initiative (EUI) aiming to increase mobility and university collaboration in the EU.
The EUI is one of the EC’s flagship initiatives and part of the broader policy to build a European Education Area (EEA). The aim is to strengthen strategic partnerships between higher education institutions across the EU and to develop “European Universities” across the entire continent.
-
ERUA means that RUC can:
- Better equip staff and students with the skills and networks to flourish as Europeans in a globalized world
- Leverage the strengths of the other partners to learn, innovate and create.
- Be at the forefront of digitalization.
- ERUA means that we can work towards a seamless education and research experience across key partnerships to increase course offerings, improve quality and deepen collaborations
RUC leads Work Package 2 (Re-Imagining Higher Education and Research). The purpose of this work package is to ensure that European reform universities remain venues of experimentation. We aim to question what universities are and to re-imagine what they could be. We will promote experimentation in teaching, learning, and research within the Alliance. We will gather information about what is already happening, support and share new experiments, and offer recommendations for how we can move forward into the future.
