Roskilde University gathers information about all visits to the university's website, https://ruc.dk. The information is collected using cookies. We use the information about your use of ruc.dk in order to compile statistics about visits to the website.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer (or other browser device) to recognize your computer in case of repeated visits. Cookies are used to store information about your visits to the site, usually for statistics, advertisements, etc. and are used by virtually all websites.
How do I avoid cookies?
You can avoid cookies by blocking them in your browser and deleting existing cookies from your hard drive. Check out the browser providers’ websites for how to do it.
Roskilde University's policy for collecting data in connection with your use of ruc.dk
This policy applies to the website ruc.dk. If you cannot accept and agree to the policy, please do not visit ruc.dk. By using ruc.dk, including navigating through the web pages, you accept the policy.
Roskilde University's data collection policy, including personal data, applies to data collected by the one cookie set by ruc.dk.
Personal data collected by third-party services (third party cookies) is not covered by this policy, but is instead covered by the holder of the third-party service’s data and personal data policy. These policies can be found on the third-party owners' websites. Refer to the section on third-party cookies for further details.
What cookies are set when you visit ruc.dk?
The first time you visit ruc.dk, a number of third-party cookies will be set from Google and YouTube (the latter only on pages with embedded video). If you accept RUC's cookie disclaimer, we will set an RUC cookie with your choice, so you avoid getting the disclaimer on every page you visit. You can see the full list of cookies further down in the text.
The cookie disclaimers itself
If you click on the website from your landing page or click 'OK' to cookies in the cookie disclaimer, we will consider it to mean that you have consented to data collection and the data collection will continue. It is not possible to say no to cookies in our cookie disclaimer, but you can avoid cookies from ruc.dk by blocking them in your browser.
What data does Roskilde University save and for how long?
Every time you visit ruc.dk, it will be registered by ruc.dk and third-party services setting one or more cookies on your computer.
Roskilde University's cookie only stores data about whether you have said yes in the cookie disclaimer. This data is stored in your browser and has a lifetime of 100 days, unless you delete your cookies yourself before then.
We also save session data in our log files for security reasons. If there is an attack (attempt) on the site, we will use this data to investigate where the attack came from and possibly to block access. This data is stored for 52 weeks. We save the following data in the log files:
- IP-address
- Date and time of your visit
- HTTP Request
- HTTP status code
- Response size
- Landing page (URL)
- Client operating system and version
- Browser type and version
Third-party cookies
Ruc.dk uses third-party services on the website - we use:
- Google Analytics for collecting statistics
- YouTube for embedding videos
These third-party services place cookies on your computer. Third-party cookies mean that the owner of the third-party service receives data about your visit to ruc.dk, for example about your browser, the length of your visit, which pages you visit, which country you are in, etc.
The company behind both YouTube and Google Analytics is Google. If you are logged in to either YouTube or your Google Account when you visit ruc.dk, Google may link your behaviour on ruc.dk with these profiles. Roskilde University has no ability to control the data processing conducted by third-party service providers, and this is therefore purely a matter between you and the third-party service owner.
