MEASLES

US

As of April 10, 2026, the United States has reported 1,714 measles cases so far in 2026, according to the Center for Disease Control. In 2026, the age group 5-19 accounts for 52% of the cases (888), and children under 5 years account for 21% of the cases (354). Of the cases reported in 2026, 92% were unvaccinated or had an unknown vaccination status and 6% of the cases have been hospitalized (96). A total of 4,001 measles cases and three deaths have been reported to date. South Carolina reported 0 new measles cases in the past two weeks, according to data from the U.S. Measles Tracker (Johns Hopkins University). In contrast, Utah recorded 97 new measles cases during the same period, marking a significant increase. 

Canada

As of April 13, 2026, Canada has reported 789 measles cases in 2026, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada. In 2026, 60% of the cases occurred in children (445). Manitoba accounts for 61% of the cases (479), and Alberta accounts for 31% of the cases (245) reported so far in 2026. 90% of the cases reported in 2026 were unvaccinated (657), and 7% required hospitalization. A total of 6,214 measles cases and two deaths have been reported to date.

 

INFLUENZA

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on April 10, 2026, 139 pediatric influenza deaths have been reported in the United States during the 2025-2026 flu season. In the latest weekly influenza surveillance report, 12 additional child deaths linked to influenza were reported. 85% of the children who died were not fully vaccinated against influenza.

H9N2

On April 10, 2026, WHO published new information on the avian influenza A(H9N2) case in Italy. The case involves a man who had recently traveled from Senegal and was hospitalized with respiratory symptoms; he is now in stable and improving condition.

The source of infection remains unknown, and contact tracing has not identified any additional cases. WHO states there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission, and the risk to the public remains low.

H5N1

As of April 14, 2026, the Centers fxor Disease Control and Prevention has not reported any cases of person-to-person transmission of H5N1 in the United States. The total remains at 71 confirmed human cases and two deaths.

 

MENINGITIS

From April 7-14, 2026, there have been no significant updates on the meningitis outbreak in Kent in the UK. 

 

MPOX

From April 7-14, 2026, there have been no significant updates on mpox outbreaks worldwide.
