Roskilde University Adjusts Its Master's Programme portfolio
The leadership of Roskilde University has decided which master's programmes will be offered at the university from 2028 onwards. These changes come in the wake of the government's reform of university education, which means universities must admit fewer students and shorten a significant portion of master's programmes. For Roskilde University, this translates to an annual reduction of approximately 200 master's students.
"We have decided on 26 programmes that give Roskilde University a clear profile - interdisciplinary programmes that contribute to societal development through innovation, but with a strong foundational expertise. This includes economics, law, quantitative methods, data, and mathematics, as well as sustainability and a critical-constructive approach to technology and AI. We aim to maintain and develop robust academic environments and provide the programmes with sufficient scale. At the same time, we emphasize ensuring that our graduates continue to have a strong academic profile, equipping them with the best opportunities for employment," says Roskilde University's Rector, Hanne Leth Andersen.
The leadership’s proposal was reviewed by Roskilde University's internal academic bodies before the final decision. Additionally, the university's advisory panels, which include representatives from employers and organizations hiring graduates, were consulted.
"We have had to close programmes that produce skilled graduates, but this was a task with clear constraints. Given this premise, I believe we now have a solid and sustainable plan that also incorporates valuable input from the academic environments," says Hanne Leth Andersen.
The changes will be implemented during the period 2028–2032.
