In 2017, Roskilde University was included in the prestigious Times Higher Education Young Universities Rankings for the first time with a position in the 101-150 band. This year, RUC has moved up to number 97.

The ranking lists the world's best universities that are aged 50 years or under and includes 250 institutions from 55 different countries.

Pro-rector Peter Kjær states, "We are delighted with this ranking, because this is where we compare ourselves with other, similar universities. Young universities often have a particular mission and role in society, and in this field, we can now say that we are among the top 100 in the world".

According to Times Higher Education: "The prestigious table applies the same rigorous 13 performance indicators as the overall THE World University Rankings - with young universities measured across their teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income."

Roskilde University has been ranked in the overall Times Higher Education World University Rankings since 2016 and in 2017, RUC advanced to the interval between 401-500 out of 1,100 universities.
