Conference: Multiplicity of time scales in complex systems - Challenges for sciences and dissemination

Join us at the international conference in Copenhagen. The conference seeks to connect researchers within the Natural Sciences and the Humanities and will focus on the multiplicity of time scales in complex systems. Particularly, the power and the uncertainties in modelling such systems with a multiplicity of processes interacting.

The conference will focus on the multiplicity of time scales in complex systems. Particularly, the power and the uncertainties in modelling such systems with a multiplicity of processes interacting.The conference seeks to connect researchers within the Natural Sciences and the Humanities. The goals are to

  • understand the universal emergence of multiplicity of time scales in a broad sense, i. e. in climate, matter, life, economy, and politics;
  • compare the various approaches of detecting multiple time scales in empirical evidence (e.g., filtering characteristic time lengths out of clouds of data);
  • analyze failures in modelling and communicating dynamic phenomena and control tasks due to underestimation of differences between characteristic time scales.
