Research at Department of Communication and Arts
Change and communication in a globalised knowledge society are recurring themes in a substantial part of the research conducted at the department, where the actor perspective and practice orientation are core values. Many of the department’s researchers are occupied in analysing, creating, shaping and communicating various forms of practice, involving users, employees, target groups, audiences or other types of actors.
In addition, the department's research is characterized by a broad expertise in the humanities, centred on a series of theoretical and analytical approaches in the fields of history, philosophy and science studies, cultural encounters and research into literature, media and language.
The department’s research in multiple disciplines is also characterised by the fact that it complements and develops a number of interdisciplinary perspectives and approaches, including transnational and transcultural studies with Nordic, European and global perspectives.
