Legal claim to admission to master’s programmes at RUC
What is a legal claim to admission?
As a bachelor’s student at RUC you are guaranteed a study place in the master’s programme to which your bachelor’s programme grants a legal claim.
You can see which bachelor’s programmes grant a legal claim to admission to the various master programmes in the admission requirements for master’s programmes on RUC’s website
Legal claim to admission is time limited
You can exercise your legal claim to admission for three years. The three year period is calculated starting with the intake immediately following the completion of your bachelor’s degree and ending immediately after the September 1st intake three years later.
If, for example, you complete your programme in the fall semester 2020 and the next intake is September 1st 2021 your legal claim to admission is valid until and including the September 1st intake 2024.
If you graduated in the spring semester 2018 or before then your legal claim to admission was limited to the intake following immediately after your graduation.
Legal claim to admission to programmes with a limited number of study places
If you want to apply for admission to a master’s programme with a limited number of study places you are guaranteed a study place during the three year period but only if you meet the application deadline.
You may only use your legal claim to admission once
After accepting a study place in the master’s programme to which you have a legal claim to admission, you cannot use your legal claim to admission at a later date. You may still apply for admission but you no longer have a legal claim to being admitted.
Have you graduated from another master’s programme?
Ïf you have graduated from another master’s programme within the three year period, you have lost your legal claim to admission and may only be enrolled if there are available study places.
When and how do I apply for admission?
You apply for admission through RUC’s website where you can read more about deadlines and application procedures.
Admission after the application deadline
If you did not apply before the application deadline you may be able to apply in the second application round for vacant study places.
